Flowcrete has been involved in a high flying flooring project at Cyprus’ new hub for international travel,Larnaka International Airport - representing one of the largest infrastructure projects ever undertaken on the island.
With a total footprint of over 100,000 sq metres, the ultra-modern airport, which opened its doors in November 2009, has the capacity to handle passenger traffic of up to 7.5 million people annually with a provision to extend this to nearly 10 million when the need arises.
Key features of the state-of-the-art terminal, which is operated by Hermes Airports Ltd, includes 67 checkin counters, 16 air bridges and parking for 2,650 vehicles alongside VIP and business lounges, duty-free shops as well as comfortable and functional areas offering a wide range of shops and cafeterias.
Flowcrete has supplied more than 40,000 sq metres of its fast-drying screed material, Isocrete K-Screed, which has been installed across the dual level facility in both departures and arrivals.
Containing the innovative K-additive, an accelerating and plasticising admixture – Isocrete K-Screed can cure up to four times faster than traditional sand and cement based screeds, helping to increase production times and allow site access for follow-on trades on the fast-track.
As well as excellent workability properties and good compaction, Flowcrete’s award-winning screed system is noted for its ability to smooth out and restore the existing substrate prior to final floor finish.
Isocrete K-Screed, which is fully certified and approved by the British Board of Agrément (BBA) delivers a strong level platform on which to lay a wide choice of floor finishes including tiles, carpet, wood, vinyl, and seamless resin.
