Product: Isocrete K-Screed
Market Sector: Airports
Location: Hong Kong
Client: Hong Kong International Airport (Chek Lap Kok)
Flowcrete’s semi-dry cementitious sub-floor screed system, Isocrete K-Screed is being walked all over at Chek Lap Kok International Airport in Hong Kong.
The popular airport required a tough, hard-wearing floor screed to pave the way for international travellers across the main passenger terminal building, retail, food and entertainment areas as well as all associated maintenance buildings and plant rooms, in what was seen at the time as the largest screed contract ever awarded to date.
To reduce the life-cycle cost and maximise the longevity of the screed system, it had to be able to withstand heavy and continual foot and trolley-wheeled traffic for a minimum period of 15 years after installation. In order to regain full use of the airport and reduce the impact to operations at the site a fast installation programme was specified – seeing over 250,000m² of Isocrete K-Screed applied in just 16 weeks.
Isocrete K-Screed, bonded with Polymer 70, was installed at a depth of 100mm through the high traffic site. Isocrete K-Screed delivers the necessary strength to ensure structural integrity for an entire development. It is suitable for use prior to the overlay of a host of floor coverings including vinyl, carpet and epoxy resin finishes and copes with the pressures associated with fast-paced airport environments
