Flowcrete has been involved in the redevelopment of an all purpose student facility that has opened in the heart of the University of Glasgow’s main campus, located on Gilmorehill.

The new multi-million pound Fraser Building, named after former Chancellor William Kerr Fraser, offers flexible accommodation over four levels and contains refectories, shops, a pharmacy, a GP surgery as well as a number of other student services.

The building, which has been conceived by project architects Page & Park, serves to provide outstanding, well integrated services for students, staff, prospective students and external customers and has been designed in conjunction with stringent environmental concerns.

Flowcrete’s fast-track flooring concept, Flowfast Terrosso, was specified for the project and installed over Flowcrete’s time proven self-smoothing subfloor system, Isocrete Heavy Duty K-Screed across the main student area’s within the Fraser building.

Flowfast Terrosso is ideal for application of this kind, offering an attractive aesthetic with excellent wear, scratch and UV resistance - a must have in busy public spaces subject to heavy foot traffic. As a result of MMA (methyl methacrylate) technology, Flowfast Terrosso is able to speed up construction programmes by providing a surface that is ready to use just two hours after installation.

“This new development represents a step-change in our service to students, creating for them a one-stop-shop for all their needs at the heart of the campus”

(Principal, Sir Muir Russell)
