In order to expand its operations, global electronics components manufacturer Flextronics required the very best in building finishes from the floor upwards at their new production facility in Malaysia.
The highly sensitive nature of electronics manufacturing facilities called for a seamless dust-free floor finish that would be easy to clean and decontaminate. Equally important was the need for an electro-static dissipating floor finish that would be able to control the static activity from the surface of the floor.
Flowcrete’s self-levelling epoxy resin system, Flowshield ESD SL, was the only flooring material evaluated by the client that was able to meet their high specification and performance standards.
Following crack repair and subsequent shot-blasting of the existing concrete substrate, a base coat of Flowcem, a cementitious, modified epoxy damp-proof membrane (DPM) system was installed over the 4,500m² area.
This was followed by installation of the hard-wearing, abrasion resistant Flowshield ESD SL at 2mm. Flowcrete was able to deliver the fully tested finished floor two days ahead of schedule, beating the very tight timescale of just 21 days.
