Flowcrete’s specialist flooring has been selected for a major project involving the refurbishment of the existing floor finishes across several areas at the Sappi Saiccor chemical cellulose pulp and coated fine paper mill in South Africa, one of the largest of its kind in the world.
A key challenge of the project was the requirement to carry out over 10,000m² of installation work while multiple trades were operating on site.
Flowfresh HF, a heavy-duty polyurethane screed with very high chemical resistance, good slip resistance and superior thermal shock distortion properties, was selected against stiff competition as the floor finish of choice for the renowned pulp mill.
Flowfresh has been installed across a range of aggressive environments including the Bleaching Plant, Digester Plant and several other processing areas.
Work at the site also involved Flowfresh MF, a self-smoothing system that has been installed in the Electrical Control Building and substations as well as Flowfresh WR, which has used on the walls, skirting and equipment plinths.
