Flowcrete has provided a dynamic and vibrant flooring solution for a new PLN 24m large-scale modern Science and Technology complex located in the heart of Poland.

The Scientific Technological Park "Technopark Gliwice" is the meeting place for representatives of science, modern industry and all aspects of entrepreneurship. The main purpose of the Park is to devise new technologies as well as improve existing ones through the use of specialist equipment available on the site.

Technopark Gliwice was established four years ago as a joint venture between the local authorities, Katowice Special Economic Zone and the Silesian University of Technology. Construction work commenced in the summer of 2006 and the first companies moved in during May 2008.

So far, 20 companies using advanced technologies are located in the building including I3D, AutoR, Paralell Systems and RoboTech – all well known in Poland for their dedication to scientific development.

Flowcrete’s decorative quartz flooring system, Peran STB was chosen to deliver an attractive and joint-free finish underfoot for the Park’s resident workers, while at the same time provide a more contemporary solution to traditional tile, carpet or vinyl finishes – in keeping with the modernist fell of the building.

Peran STB was applied across a total area encompassing over 2,000m² including the main hall, central corridors and all office entrances. A contrasting colour scheme of grey and green was selected by the architect to highlight the technical character of the new building.

“The number of innovative companies that have been attracted to Technopark and their activity confirms that the objectives of the project have been fulfilled. However, the potential is still much greater"

(Jacek Kotra, director of the Technopark)
