Flowcrete has scored its first major win in Pakistan with a landmark project for global pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline.
Three of its seamless flooring systems have been installed at the Penicillin Block of GSK's new pharmaceutical facility in Karachi. Flowcrete’s impressive portfolio of reference projects with GSK and in the pharmaceutical industry generally were key factors in helping to win the work.
Flowcrete carried out the 3,000 m² installation in the packaging hall, the blending, granulation, encapsulation and dispensing rooms, in the corridors and QC labs, and in the raw materials and finished goods stores
The new concrete substrate was prepared with a scratch coat and primer before installation of the self-levelling decorative Flowshield Quartz and anti-static Flowshield ESD systems.
The Flowcoat SF41 with anti-slip grade was installed at 2mm in the goods stores. All three systems are seamless, hard-wearing and provide high levels of chemical resistance.
Flowshield ESD is compliant with BS2050, one of the highest specifications of its type. This enables sensitive electronic equipment to operate without disruption in the environment where the product has been laid. Additional work at the site also included the installation of 100mm jointless coving throughout the area.
“Flowcrete has carried out installations for this major client elsewhere in the world and so were able to demonstrate that we could achieve the same quality results for them at their new facility in Pakistan. We are delighted to have secured this major win as our first pharmaceutical reference project in the country.”
