Seamless Surface Delivers Antistatic Protection At IBM
When global computer giant IBM set up a new manufacturing facility in Singapore, the building specifications included very stringent criteria for the flooring finishes.
In addition to providing a hard-wearing surface capable of withstanding the heavy duty environment, the selected system was required to protect against potential damage to the sensitive electronics equipment from static shocks conducted through the floor.
A seamless, electro-static dissipative (ESD) flooring system from Flowcrete was specially formulated to meet the specific anti-static rating required by the client. The epoxy resin system offers a dust- and joint-free finish with superior chemical resistance and is easily cleaned.
A system known as Flowcem was installed first to provide a damp proof membrane in light of the high moisture content underground. Flowcrete’s self-smoothing Flowshield SL1000 epoxy resin system was installed in the warehousing and main production areas.
With dedicated in-house technical consultants and licensed installation contractors, Flowcrete was able to carry out the 9,000 sq metre project within the limited timeframe available.
