On The Fast-track At Railtex 2011

World-leading specialist manufacturer Flowcrete will be showcasing its comprehensive flooring systems, geared up for the unique needs of the rail industry, at Railtex 2011...

Serving the sector for more than 30 years, the company’s latest innovation, Flowcrete Flowfast Rapid Transit, has become the flooring solution of choice within the industry for environments above and below ground.

Fire-resistant to London Underground Limited’s Section 12 usage, Flowfast Rapid Transit is a seamless acrylic resin system, which includes the quartz finish Flowfast Rapid Transit SR and the flexible floor tiles, Flowfast Rapid Transit Tactiles.

Ready for use just two hours after installation, Flowfast Rapid Transit has little impact on day-to-day operations in refurbishment programmes – and significantly speeds up construction programmes for new build developments.

The Tactiles have two variants, the Blister Tactile and Corduroy Tactile, and have been developed for use in underground rail networks, where they are being used to designate the platform edge, or the top and base of stairwells.

Offering excellent flexibility and slip resistance - together with colour variations to assist the visually impaired - they comply with London Underground Limited’s Engineering Standard E3821 A6.

The SR system is a seamless, textured floor ideal for use in all areas subject to high foot and vehicular traffic where health, hygiene and fire-safety are paramount, including underground rail networks, washroom areas, warehousing and storage facilities. Its anti-slip finish maintains colour stability under exposure to UV light, and provides excellent scratch, chemical and wear resistance.

Flowcrete stand number at Railtex is D40. The event takes place at Earls Court between 14 -16 June.

Alan Dean, Flowcrete Sales Director, said: “Since its launch last year, Flowfast Rapid Transit has gone from strength-to-strength in the industry, as specifiers recognise the value of a specially formulated floor finish developed to meet the exact needs of the railway sector.”

Flowfast Rapid Transit is the latest development from Flowcrete, which has its headquarters in Sandbach, Cheshire.

The company offers a range of time-proven solutions, ideal for the wider railway environment.

These include decorative finishes including the stylish and hard-wearing seamless terrazzo Mondéco – ideal for concourse areas – and for retail areas the fast track installation system Flowfast Terrosso, which delivers a terrazzo-style effect underfoot.

Flowcrete Deckshield also provides a decorative finish that demarcates and protects car parks, creating a safer, brighter and more inviting environment.

Finally, the antimicrobial floor finish Flowcrete Flowfresh utilises the natural power of silver to control salmonella and E-coli in food preparation and other hygiene sensitive environments, while the company’s industrial coatings support operations in back-of-house maintenance and plant room facilities.
