Flowcrete has been involved in an emergency flooring operation in conjunction with the Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service, who sought to upgrade facilities at two of its Community Fire Stations within the region.

The brigade, which is responsible for fire protection, prevention, intervention and emergency rescue across Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, operates in 30 different Fire Stations using 50 front-line fire engines complete with specialist appliances including hydraulic platforms.

The two stations in need of refurbishment works, located in Cheadle and Wombourne, were looking for a slip-resistant and protective flooring system for use in twin appliance bays - each representing a total surface area of around 100m².

Flowcrete’s heavy-duty seamless resin system, Flowcrete HF, was selected to meet the client’s budgetary and performance requirements, Flowcrete HF is a 6-9mm polyurethane resin floor finish offering excellent chemical, mechanical and wear resistance.

Easily-cleaned and sterilised, Flowcrete HF is fully steam-cleanable and offers thermal resistance up to 120°C – making it the perfect flooring solution to deal with the brigade’s heavy-duty daily operations.

Works at the Cheadle site also included the installation of Peran W, prior to the Flowcrete HF, on the station’s existing tiled floor. Peran W is a water-based floor and wall primer that can be over coated just 15 minutes after application, and was used primarily to ensure a strong adhesion of the new flooring system to the existing tiled substrate.
