The $2 billion Fiona Stanley Hospital, due to begin a four phase opening sequence in October 2014, is the largest building project ever undertaken by the State Government. The 783 bed, state-of-the-art tertiary hospital will use the latest scientific, technological and medical developments to provide a comprehensive suite of clinical, research and education services.
To safeguard the wellbeing of the hospital’s patients and staff, pioneering design ideas have been implemented alongside the most advanced medical equipment and technology.
This commitment to high standards extends throughout the medical campus, which is equivalent in size to four city blocks, and includes the installation of 1,120m² of Flowcrete Australia’s ultra-hygienic, seamless resin flooring solution Flowfresh SR in the patient catering facility. The floor installation was completed over a 6-week period and was applied in both 4mm and 6mm thicknesses.
Flowfresh SR includes the antimicrobial agent Polygiene®, which inhibits the growth of up to 99% of bacteria on the floor’s surface. This hard wearing finish is ideal for locations that need to maintain the highest possible standards of hygiene. Not only does it actively eliminate pathogens, but it provides an easy to clean surface that can resist chemicals, wear, heat and hot water cleaning without deteriorating.
The client awarded the project to Antiskid Industries Pty Ltd, the exclusive applicator of Flowcrete products in Western Australia. Antiskid Industries recommended Flowfresh over all alternative products for the project due to its superior long term performance.
